Certificate IV in Financial Services (Bookkeeping) is a qualification that is recognised by the Financial Services industry to cover various roles within this field.

The Certificate IV in Financial Services (Bookkeeping) consists of 4 core units and 9 electives, all of which must be completed - a total of 13 units of competency. RPL is available to those who have extensive practical knowledge and experience in the bookkeeping industry.

This qualification is a MUST for people working within the bookkeeping field, dealing with BAS and GST statements and meets the minimum education requirements to register as a Business Activity Statement (BAS) Agent under the new Tax Agents Services Act 2009.

FNS40207: Certificate IV in Financial Services (Bookkeeping)

Qualification notes

To attain a FNS40207 Certificate IV in Financial Services (Bookkeeping) 13 units must be achieved:

  • 4 industry core units, plus

  • 7 sectoral core units ,plus

  • 2 elective units.

This qualification reflects the role of individuals who use well-developed skills and a broad knowledge base in a wide variety of contexts and environments. They apply solutions to a defined range of problems, and analyse and evaluate information from a variety of sources in relation to a variety of tasks. They may provide guidance to others with some limited responsibility for the output of others.

This qualification is designed to reflect the role of contract bookkeepers and employees performing in the role of bookkeeper for organisations and who perform duties such as:

  • establishing and maintaining accounting systems

  • assisting with Business Activity Statements and other office taxes

  • payroll

  • developing management systems for organisations.


Prerequisite Requirements

Where the industry core units have been demonstrated as a requirement of Certificate III in Financial Services exemption is provided.
